Kiana Shahnia (b. 2000, Tehran) is an Iranian/Canadian artist currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Chicago. Working with installation-based oil on panel paintings, she interrogates the politics of looking and destabilizes the structures of spectatorship. Through doubling and repetition, Kiana creates spaces for unstable encounters, where spectator and spectacle reflect onto another in uncanny ways.
